Tree surgeon in Carbis Bay
Wolf Pine is a tree surgeon covering Carbis Bay, four miles from Hayle. The work here is mostly crown reduction and pruning on large mature trees in sloping gardens above the beach.

Tree work in Carbis Bay
Carbis Bay is crown reduction country. The plots are larger and more detached than St Ives up the road, they run down the hillside towards the bay, and a great many of them were planted with Monterey pine, holm oak and other fast evergreen shelter species — the trees people across west Cornwall put in to break the wind coming off the Atlantic. Those trees are now mature, and mature is the problem. A shelter belt planted at head height in the 1970s is now a stand of substantial trees, casting a garden into shade, filling gutters, and in a number of cases standing between the house and the reason the house is worth what it is worth.
The slope is the other half of it. A tree on a hillside plot does not behave like one on the flat: the ground falls away beneath the drop zone, access is often down steps from the road rather than along a drive, and getting timber back up to a vehicle is frequently the longest part of the day. It also means a reduction has to be judged from the right place. What matters is usually the view from the house or the terrace, not from the base of the tree, so I will walk up and look from where you actually sit before deciding how much comes off.
